The SA 8000 standard, published by SAI in 1997, touches on the sphere of Social Responsibility as regards the conditions of workers (human rights, development, enhancement, training and professional growth of people, health and safety of workers, non-discrimination, work of minors and young people) and its requirements extend to the entire chain of suppliers and subcontractors.
SA 8000 was the first certifiable ethical standard and compliance with it and its strict criteria is recognized all over the world.
